Confidence & Consistency
Wanted to share a moment of joy with you. I had always made it part of my day to give the boys an "upstairs hug" before going to work by scooping them up and holding them tight. I had not been able to do that since 7/22! Today, I felt a surge of confidence and strength, and surprised each boy with a scooped-up upstairs hug. They each melted in my arms. Using good technique (engage the core, glutes, and quads in concert) as well as the growing strength I've enjoyed under your guidance, the boys had a wonderful, heartfelt moment we all enjoyed this morning. Last February, 2022, I enlisted the help of a personal trainer, Ajia Clancy. I had been someone who had always exercised and was in okay shape, but wanted to really have a more focused approach to fitness. In 6 months, I was going to be married to my best friend, and I wanted to look fit for what ended up being one of the best days of my life. My goal was not to lose weight. It was to just tighten up, tone, and build muscle. To tell you the truth, I was nervous. What would it be like? Would she be nice? Would it be a good fit? Would I be able to do the exercises despite being 53 years old? It was FINE!
Well, all of my fears were laid to rest the moment I met Ajia at our first virtual meeting. She was so down to earth!! Her positivity and flexibility allowed me to find small pockets of time to train and remain motivated throughout the entire training process. My schedule is incredibly busy, so it was challenging, but we did it. It was definitely a partnership! Ajia always listened to any/all concerns I might have, as well as a variety of questions. She was patient and non-judgmental. And yes, she was nice. But, more importantly, she was excellent at her job and took it seriously. And yes, it was a great fit. And yes, she got me to do the exercises even though I wasn't 25!! It all worked out so well.
The exercises were always geared to me individually and never felt like a "cookie-cutter" plan. Ajia frequently checked in on me in between workouts to see how I was feeling and ask me if I had any questions. In May, I got Covid and was anxious that my progress would be lost. She was so reassuring: "Don't worry-we have time." She was right. She made me rest and not start back up until she knew it was safe for my body to begin exercising again, even providing me with articles that supported her recommendations to wait a while before resuming our plan. She knows her stuff.
I was really pleased with the shape that I was in by the time I had completed my training. I felt strong and fit and confident in my own skin. I have Ajia to thank for that, and I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone who wants to have a more personalized approach to achieving his/her fitness goals. She's outstanding!

I have been working with Ajia for about 8 months now, and these 8 months have been truly life-changing for me. Not only does she encourage me to stay active in between sessions by sending daily messages, but she also gives me the confidence to try different things. I now have the confidence to go to a public gym alone and do more than just cardio and the basic weight machines. Ajia has also been incredibly helpful with the food aspect of my journey, as that has always been what I struggled with the most. She has shown me so many different recipes and substitutes for recipes for my specific restrictions. I’ve had the pleasure of watching Ajia run workshops and talk about exciting new activities, like fit walks and “bride to be” workouts. It took me many years to finally try her as my personal trainer. I noticed a huge difference within a few sessions. It’s nice to have someone you talk to on a regular basis be the person helping you improve your health. Although we talk every day, she still checks in after workouts and our virtual sessions.
