Equestrian Performance
8 months ago, I didn’t like my reflection in the mirror; I barely recognized myself. I had always been relatively fit, but got off track after a series of stressful life events, so I reached out to Ajia for help. In the past 8 months of working with her, I have lost 25lbs and gained muscle mass, strength, balance, endurance, and confidence.
This has all carried over into my horseback riding fitness. Over my 40+ year span of riding, I have consistently had trouble with my right shoulder and hip collapsing. I had always attributed this to scoliosis as a child. However, after working with Ajia on evening out my muscle imbalance,s this has all but disappeared. I actually had a riding instructor compliment me recently on how even and balanced I am in the saddle! Such a bonus; I wanted to improve myself and like who I saw in the mirror again, and along the way. I also improved my riding fitness.
I didn’t know what to expect when I asked Ajia for help, and what I discovered is that I am capable of making significant changes in my fitness without a gym, in the comfort of my own home, on my own schedule. She is an excellent coach who supports me and my goals and tailors my workouts each week to help me achieve them. I’m so glad I decided to reach out to her for her expertise and help.

With winter break over, it was time to put my core strength homework to the test. Tikka is a horse with a lot of power in the hind end. He often wants to go past the distance. Having a solid core strength foundation and being able to be strong enough to stay quiet has helped us immensely. Feeling empowered, fit, and strong going into the 2023 season.

For many years, I have struggled with physical fitness – especially over the winter. Spring would come, I’d want to ride my horse and be active outdoors, and I’d be weak with limited energy. It was a depressing cycle. I tried going to the gym, but I honestly didn’t know what I was doing there. I had no real plan, and it just felt like an uncomfortable waste of time. Using a personal trainer didn’t really occur to me as I had the impression that it was something for rich people, or those who were already super fit. Plus, my schedule just wouldn’t allow driving to a place to meet somebody several times a week. But then I found Ajia Clancy and everything changed! Being able to meet with Ajia virtually has been a game-changer. I can be in the comfort of my home on a schedule that fits my life and my goals. No fancy gym equipment needed – Ajia is so creative and plans a great workout no matter what you have. It’s always interesting to see what she comes up with. She also meets you at your level with your goals in mind. I was worried that I would feel self-conscious about my lack of fitness or limitations from past injuries, but Ajia is so accepting and positive - I feel completely comfortable. She works with you right where you are and assists you in setting goals that make sense to you. The fact that she is an equestrian is a HUGE bonus to me. She totally gets my sport and what I need to do, not only in the saddle, but around the barn. I also did not need to worry about the cost. Her per-session cost is totally reasonable, and all the support she gives even outside those sessions provides incredible value. And the proof is in the result – this spring I was ready to ride! My first days in the saddle and out working hard around the farm were great. No feeling weak and tired – no stopping to catch my breath. I am excited to continue my wellness journey with Ajia. I highly recommend Ajia for anyone looking to improve their overall health and quality of life.

As an active competitor in the equine sport of Eventing, being physically fit is important, especially as I move up through higher levels of competition. I'm an older competitor and have suffered several injuries that required extensive rehabilitation. Both have taken a toll on my overall fitness. I decided to do something about it and reached out to Ajia. My favorite part of working with Ajia is that she tailors my workouts to meet my specific goals and needs.
